The Patented BUDDY MIXER
System and “Dynamic Mixing”
At
Buddy Mixers, we’re proud of our slogan “The mix you want...at the speed
you need!”
How
do we do it? Simply put, we have worked hard to create an innovative
design technology that attacks your mix in a new and efficient way called
“Dynamic
Mixing”.
A
primary limitation of conventional mixers is that they utilize a repeated
tumbling action. But simply tumbling a mix over and over really doesn’t “work”
the mix. You’ll need to run your mixer a lot longer to get a reasonably
blended product.
A
second major limitation of the
conventional mixer is the drum design: the front side of the drum where the pour
spout is located is curved and
the backside is flat. This
“uncurved area” creates a place where mortar tends to “hide”…beyond the reach of
paddles. This area is what we call the “dead zone”. It stands to reason if a
mixer has 30% less contact with the mortar, you’ll need to run the mixer longer
or accept a mix that is not optimally blended.
At
Buddy Mixers, we have overcome the limitations of “tumbling” and the “FLAT-BACK”
drum.
To
improve upon the limitations of simple tumbling, Buddy Mixers has created the
unique “Dynamic Mixing System”.
“DYNAMIC MIXING” WITH THE UNIQUE BUDDY PADDLE DESIGN
PRODUCES “COMPLETE BATCH ROTATION”.

First, four 15” wide paddles with
radius edges that perfectly match the drum’s profile apply “ROTATIONAL PRESSURE”
to the outer core of the entire batch…At the same time, two PUSHER PADDLES,
working in concert with two VENTURI-MID PADDLES and two END-WIPER PADDLES apply
additional “LATERAL PRESSURE” to the inner core of the rotating
batch.
By placing this
paddle configuration inside the symmetrically shaped drum, the level of
entrained air is significantly increased and the complete 2-Bag Batch is
produced in 30% less mixing time.
THIS
IS THE HEART OF “DYNAMIC MIXING”
The
main benefits of Entrained Air are:
1.
Lower Mix
Temperature:
increases the “board-life” of the mortar and allows more time before the placed
brick or block must be tooled.
2.
Improved
Spreadability:
because of the increased number of microscopic air bubbles which act like tiny
ball-bearings, the mix actually spreads easier, smoother, and is more
creamy.
SECOND: The shape of the drum: unlike other
mortar mixers, Buddy Mixers have curved the back of their drum as well as the
front.
This
symmetrical design successfully eliminates the “dead zone” which increases the time the
mortar is in contact with the paddle system by 30%.
IDEAL
BATCH PREPARATION SEQUENCE: WHILE THE MIXER IS
RUNNING…
1. ADD TOTAL AMOUNT OF WATER…5 GALLONS OF WATER PER BAG OF MORTAR
MIX
2. ADD THE DESIRED AMOUNT OF BAGS OF MORTAR
3.
ADD THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF SAND…FOUR-
FIVE GALLON PAILS FILLED TO THE TOP PER
BAG
THE
BATCH DESCRIPTIONS: STANDARD MORTAR MIX…3 PARTS SAND TO 1 PART
CEMENT…
THE 2 BAG BATCH… 2 BAGS
OF MORTAR MIX, 6 CUBIC FT OF SAND, AND 10-12 GALLONS OF
WATER
THE 3 BAG BATCH… 3 BAGS
OF MORTAR MIX, 9 CUBIC FT OF SAND, AND 15-18 GALLONS OF
WATER
THE 4 BAG BATCH… 4 BAGS
OF MORTAR MIX, 12 CUBIC FT OF SAND, AND 20-24 GALLONS OF
WATER
NOTE: 3
CUBIC FT. OF SAND EQUAL FOUR – 5 GALLON PAILS
FILLED TO THE TOP WITH SAND
